The beginnings of the Blackwell School Alliance (BSA)
In 2006, Blackwell School Alliance was founded by a group of Blackwell alumni led by Joe Cabezuela. The BSA met with the Marfa Independent School District, after hearing news of the demolition of the last Blackwell building, the Harper Building. MISD, the owners of the piece of land at the time, agreed to a 99-year lease to the BSA for one dollar a year.
